Network Performance Services
We are able to offer a variety services to address network performance management issues. These include:
Network Traffic Healthcheck
This service provides an engineer to measure and analyse traffic levels over an agreed period of time. A detailed written analysis is provided to act as a comparison baseline for future detection of trends in usage and unusual network activity. In addition to one-off baselining, the optional Quarterly baselining Service provides site visits at quarterly intervals to repeat the baselining measurements and provide a detailed commentary on trends and changes since the previous visit. Alternatively we can provide traffic monitoring tools for a time period to constantly monitor usage and network activity.
Network/Application Performance Baselining
This service provides an engineer on customer site to measure and analyse the performance of a network in terms of throughput and response time for specific application types between specific end-points. A detailed written analysis is provided to act as a comparison baseline for future detection of trends and anomalies in the performance of networked applications. The service may also be used to assist in pre-deployment testing of new networked applications. In addition to one-off performance tests, we can provide repeat tests or continual monitoring to provide trend analysis.
VoIP (voice-over-IP) Implementation Services
The introduction of VoIP (Voice-over-IP and other media-over-IP) or IP Telephony can have major performance effects on existing networks and applications, and QoS implications for routed networks. To be useful VoIP must also deliver good voice quality, usually expressed as a MOS score (mean opinion score) or measured to PAMS, PESQ or PSQM+ standards.
To avoid implementation problems and surprises, pre-deployment testing and performance benchmarking is highly recommended if not essential. Post-implementation, VoIP is another application requiring protocol analysis and troubleshooting, not only for its own performance but also for the effects of VoIP data on overall network performance. We can provide a range of specialist consultancy services to augment organisations' internal resources. In each case, services are tailored to match the particular project requirements.
Pre-installation VoIP suitability Testing
This service tests the suitability of a network to handle VoIP as an effective application by actively testing the existing network with likely or worst-case VoiP traffic streams.
Benefits
The existing network may not be suitable for handling VoIP traffic effectively. Alternatively, the introduction of VoIP traffic may adversely affect existing network applications. This service minimises the risk of unforeseen problems by loading the existing network and testing the likely performance of both VoIP and other typical applications.
